Welcome to the StoneCool Gallery of Fine Art. The vast majority of the stones featured here were gleaned (with permission) from areas landscaped with ordinary everyday river rock. Banks, restaurants, strip malls, big box stores, apartment and office buildings. Some were picked during road trips throughout the country. Most were found in Iowa, particularly around greater Des Moines. A few are agates that were purchased pre-polished. Very few were larger than a fist. Some were the size of a big lima bean. All shared one common trait. The surfaces were heavily weathered. Only by polishing or cutting into them could their hidden treasures be revealed. The colors and designs are all natural, courtesy of God and Mother Nature.

However, God and Mother Nature did have a little help. Award-winning photographer Marty Hulsebos, known nationally for his beautiful landscape photography, turned his camera and his amazing talents inward to reveal the wonderful images found here. His eye for beauty and balance has been instrumental in bringing these hidden treasures to life. To view his landscape art you can visit his website.
